Elwai Camp (GPS coordinates: 2°28'23.4"S 34°83'67.6"E) an excellent choice for your safari camp in the Central Serengeti area in Tanzania.  We cater to all types of clienteles but specialize in photographers & photography groups.  As a year-round safari camp, we are in the prime location for the Migration and calving of the millions of wildebeest and zebra that come here each year to give birth to a new generation.  The calving season is an epic event!  We are about 25KM from the Seronera airstrip near Banangi Mountain and the Orangi River.

The central Serengeti in Tanzania supports a greater diversity of resident wildlife than anywhere else in the Serengeti including elephant, giraffe, impala, waterbuck, hippo, topi, reedbuck, buffalo and baboon.  This resident prey attracts the highest concentrations of large predators in Africa - lion, hyena, leopard and cheetah and a multitude of smaller predators like mongoose, jackal, serval and bat-eared fox.  There is no better place for a safari camp to be in Tanzania!

We have 8 large safari tents.  We strive to retain the intimacy of the camp while providing excellent service with a close proximity to the abundant wildlife of the area.  Our tents are a spacious 28 feet long by 16.5 feet wide (8mx5.5m) and are constructed of heavy-duty safari-grade rip-stop canvas made locally in Tanzania.  We add an additional cooling feature of shade-cloth over each tent.  The tents have 5 large, netted windows which you can fully open with mosquito netting stitched into the actual tent.   Each tent also has a 3-speed oscillating fan to help keep you cool on hotter days.  We want you to feel at home and be comfortable while at Elwai Camp.

The entrance of our tents has a covered patio area with safari chairs and end-tables for relaxing.  The front of the tents zip fully open, including a layer of mosquito netting and the rip-stop canvas which zips completely closed.  Stepping into the bedroom area of the tent you will be greeted by locally handmade furniture - a chair, carpet, a laundry pouch, multiple luggage racks, bedside tables with lamps, and a large comfortable bed.  In addition, we have a rechargeable flashlight, a walkie-talkie, and other items to help you enjoy your stay.  Our décor is meant to match the natural surroundings of the Serengeti and make you feel enveloped in Tanzania.

Our en-suite facilities are accessed directly from the bedroom and have a separate doorway.  The bathroom is complete with two ceramic basins with 24/7 hot and cold running water, a large mirror, a generous supply of natural, local bathroom products, and plush, oversized 800GSM spa quality bath towels.  The bathroom also has woven reed mats and clothes rack.  The toilet and shower areas are separate and allow for privacy.   Inside the toilet area is a ceramic flushing western toilet, encased on a wooden frame for stability.  The shower area is spacious and also has a wooden base.  Our showers have an in-line water pressure pump to ensure high water pressure for your showers.

We offer single, double, triple, & quad rooming options.  Every bed has custom made mosquito/insect protection.  The beds are fitted with high quality sheets, pillows, & duvets for your comfort.  All our tents are powered with solar power, we also use a state-of-the-art solar water heater to provide 24/7 hot water for your shower, and we always have extra power on tap so you can enjoy yourself and do the things you need to do while on safari.
